On March 17th, Eric Frank of FlatworldKnowledge came to Bronx Community College and gave a presentation to the English Dept. faculty. At the City University of New York (CUNY) IT Conference on December 3^rd, I presented on the topic of open textbooks to a standing room only crowd of about 30 CUNY people with an additional dozen or so who were forced to stand in the hallway trying to catch some of what I said. The attendees included faculty, librarians, and administrators.

Here's an article from today's NY Times about how students cling to print textbooks. It might make a good addition to a presentation on open texts. Since print versions of open texts are so much less expensive than traditional texts, it would point to a solution to a problem the NY Times has identified.…
