Saylor Foundation Names Open Textbook Challenge Winners
Saylor Foundation has selected three college textbooks to be added to its lineup of free online courses through the Open Textbook Challenge. Each author will receive $20,000, and the textbooks are available through a creative commons license.
The texts are now available for use by students and instructors at saylor.org.
The winners of the contest are:
- Brigham Young University Professor Kenneth Kuttler, who penned Elementary Linear Algebra and Linear Algebra. These books will be implemented for Saylor's MA211: Linear Algebra and MA212: Linear Algebra II courses; and
- Professor Olivier Bonaventure at Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, who wrote Computer Networking: Principles, Protocols and Practice. This text will be used for Saylor's CS402: Local Area Networks course.
