Hi Jacky, thanks for your comment. It's good to meet people who know Joel & Justin; they are great to work with! I will check out the blog post functionality you suggested. Thanks!
Thanks for the welcome Jacky. I look forward to interacting with your community and sharing your work with the people in my networks. I am currently engaged with 10 technical and vocational colleges in Africa and open textbooks will be of great interest to them.
Thanks for giving me the rundown about collegeopentextbooks.com :) I feel like I had a mini orientation and I understand how things work a lot better. I uploaded my avatar, and I look forward to participating in this wonderful and inspirational movement!!
I am excited about all the possibilities that Open Textbooks present.
Of course I am new to the field and I want to meet others and see what they are doing. Thanks for your welcome and I am looking forward to some great projects.
Hi Jacky! Thank you for talking about our bookloan program, that is really exciting! We're working on improving and expanding, I'll send you updates once in a while if that would be useful.
Last year Nicole Allen helped us in promoting open-textbooks and the information you share has helped me so much in teaching faculty about open-textbooks. Since we met, I've become obsessed with open-textbooks :) and promoting them is a fun role our program is incorporating into every semester.
Cheers and I hope you have a very fulfilling 2011 :)
We recently met with a Turkish company Intelligent Papers that has piloted its reader in Turkey and a California high school. We are working with that company to pilot an open textbook at a community college.
Dear Jacky
How do you find time to write all these.
I envy you. I am at your service here in Turkey any time.

Hi Jackie,
Thanks for the welcome. I actually think I'm registered here under two different email addresses, but I can't remember what the other email address was : )
It was a very hectic 6 months creating the textbook, but it’s great to be an author. The next stage is getting feedback and improving the textbook. I chatted with Judy and see that you were copied on the email (dtd 3 June) about having my textbook reviewed. Would you please let me know the status of that item.
We are better organizing our efforts at Houston Community College and Lorah Gough will continue to be the CCCOER institution representative. I have recently accepted the one year appointment as the OER Coordinator, a part-time release faculty position to help champion the OER/OCW cause. I will be applying for a $100,000 grant at HCC that will be titled: OpenCourseWare Textbook Project. The purpose of the grant will be to create new or organize existing OER/OCW materials into electronic textbooks (we plan on using Connexions) that can be adopted for course use at HCC thus reducing student textbook costs. Our intentions would be to have completed textbooks be part of the CCOTP. A few questions for you:
1. Does the CCOTP pay an honorarium for those who review textbooks? If yes, how much? If no, would you solicit reviews if HCC paid the honorarium? How much do you think an honorarium should be?
2. We will want to concentrate on textbooks that add to the collection. In addition to what you already have on the CCOTP web site, do you know of any other textbooks that are currently being built? If yes, titles and the course that they are designed for would be useful.
I am looking forward to meeting you in person. Maybe at the 2010 Connexions Conference.
Hi Jacky... I am getting more into this area now that I am on PDL and have more freedom with my time. Just getting my feet wet at this point but it appears to be an exciting time to join this revolution. Brian
